First trip to the ER!

James went to the emergency room this morning for the first time. Poor kid! He was playing around with these little kid chairs, he knocked it over and then totally fell face first onto it. I actually didn't watch it happen. He started screaming bloody murder and in one second I ran over to see what the commotion was about and he already had blood all over the place, all over the chair, his shirt, legs, pouring from his mouth...yeah! When he fell he totally bit through his bottom lip! I tried to calm him down and it was his nap time, so he was pretty crabby anyway. I sat there holding him with a towel up to his mouth contemplating on whether to bring him in or not. I knew that mouth sores healed up pretty fast, but since it was like a hole in his lip I thought I better bring him in just to check it out. It's a good thing I did, they ended up giving him those liquid stitches and they said that it probably would have started to swell (which it has) and the cut on the outside of his lip would have opened more and more. It then could have been easily infected and/or it would have been harder to heal/close. He did pretty well, with the whole morning. Of course we had those ear piercing screams a little bit here and there, but other than that he was a pretty tough little guy! :)
So this picture makes it look like nothing. I couldn't really get a good shot of it. It is also way more swollen, this pic was taken this morning. There is also a shadow where the cut is on the outside. It is right under his lip. The one on the inside is more on the top. Also, please ignore his dry booger crusted nose. He wasn't letting me get anywhere near his face. :)

OMG!!! How scary that must have been for you. Did your heart just leap into your throat when you saw him bleeding?!

I am so glad to hear that he is doing well. It's amazing how they bounce back fairly quickly, but it is us as mother's that takes the emotional beating. LOL.

Oh man Bridget it sound like Cooper and James are two peas in a pod! We did ours last week, but his tooth didn't make all the way through, but his nose bled too. Oh that blood is so scary with little guys! I hope he is feeling better.
