Love Thursday

For the love of vacation and Arizona.
One week from today, yes I will be flying on 9/11, I will be basking in the heat of the desert in the good ole state of Arizona. Most of you probably know my mom and sister both live there. I am very excited and deathly afraid at the same time. Excited for the obvious reasons, my mom, sis, to get away, etc. Deathly afraid because...two words: James, Airplane. Not only am I bringing my 14 month old on an airplane, I am doing it alone. Caleb has to work so he can't come. I have done this before, last November. James was only 4 months old and slept the whole time. I can guarantee you that WILL NOT be the case this time. If anyone has any super tips on accomplishing this task with not too many nasty looks from fellow Boeing passengers, I am all ears! The picture above was taken when we were in AZ last year...notice my little baldy. YAY! Arizona here we come!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Lovely photos! Have a safe trip - I'm flying alone myself later this month to South Dakota - I do not like to fly and will be on sedatives - let's keep each other in our thoughts! ;-)

You will be fine with James.

I flew so often with my kids already and always alone and by now I appreciate all the connection flights instead of non stop to get out of the plane after 8 hours for a break instead of after 13 hours. LOL.

Enjoy your time at home.

I did the solo (nightmare) plane ride from TX to CA in March... As I was de-planing from the return trip--where my son was so off the hook that I swore I'd never fly solo again-- a nice lady next to me suggested that next time I give my son a bit of benadryl before flying as it would knock him out (she used to do it with her children she said) I haven't been back in the air to test it, but I thought I'd pass it along all the same. Hope your plane ride is peaceful and a great start to a wonderful time with your Mom & Sis...

I have traveled a lot with Christian and I always make sure to have a lot of fun little snacks for him - special treats I maybe wouldn't normally give him. I also always bring lots of new little toys - dollar store or Target dollar section are great - since they are new they hold his attention much longer. A couple books if he likes to read are great too. And if he has a favorite blanket or stuffed animal or other comfort item make sure to bring that on the plane with you. Bring a sippy cup on and the flight attendants are usually great about getting juice or milk for the little ones in my experience.

If you decide to give him Benedryl, make sure to test it before you leave. I gave it to Christian on a plane once and it made him so wired - he never slept at all. I had given it to him for allergies previously but it never had that effect.

If I can think of anything else I'll let you know. Have a great trip and don't forget to ask the flight attendant for wings for James! Good Luck!

Love that picture!!!

As for the plane, GOOD LUCK!! As somebody else suggested take a trip to the dollar store and buy several things... Another thing is a coloring book and crayons (jumbo ones) and I assure you he will love it...

As for snacks, my girls love the cereal Captain Crunch and Froot Loops, so when I need them to stay put, I will treat them with it... Another hit in my house are grissinis (it works wonders during food shopping).

As for the Benadryl, being sleepy is a possible reaction, but my middle girl actually gets hyper with that type of medicines, so even when she has allergies, I try to keep her away from them...
