Christmas present memories...

My mom was the ultimate Santa. She was amazing at keeping everything hidden. We never saw any presents, wrapping paper, or even tape. She had special Santa handwriting for the gift tags on the presents, which, now as a mother I am trying to master. Once we figured out there was no Santa she kept this up and for the life of us, my sister and I tried so hard to find out what we were getting. We were sneaky, very sneaky. The few times we did figure out what we were getting was pretty much luck, but still.

My sister and I were chatting on the phone and reminiscing about the 3 times we could think of that we figured out what ALL of our presents were before Christmas. We had a good chuckle.
  1. The Year of the Sega: One day while over at my mom's friend's house, we were playing in the basement and just so happen to start walking up the stairs when we overheard my mom tell her friend everything she bought us for Christmas.
  2. The Year of Abercrombie clothes: My sister found a stack of extremely detailed receipts in our parent's bedroom.
  3. The Year we were WAY too old for these shananagans: My mom now lived in Arizona and she sent all of our Christmas presents in a couple big boxes to my dad. He tried to hide them in the garage. We found them, opened the boxes which every present was beautifully wrapped. We opened every single one and wrapped them back up so my dad (or mom) would know. Sorry mom, I don't think you knew about this one. :)

Go ahead kids, try these ideas out!

That is so funny! My mom did that too, different handwriting and everything. We were just talking about how my parents told me that santa wasn't real on Easter when I was in 4th grade and I bawled for like an hour.

My mom used this story that my sisters and I actually bought. The gifts were all placed under the tree way before Christmas. She would "claim" that they were just wrapped empty boxes and that Santa, with his magic wand, would fill them with gifts on Christmas Eve. I hide ours here. I think my kids are a lot smarter than my sisters and I. LOL

I don't remember ever trying to find our presents ahead. I liked being surprised. I would try to guess what was in them after we quit believing in Santa Claus and put them under the tree early so we could look at the packages and shake them.
